In essence, J.K Rowling was magnificent. But the Bahasa Melayu translation could be better.

I found the book to be rather off-putting at first, but I’ve seen these books made it to the best-selling shelf over and over again. Naturally, I”m beginning to get curious, and I’ve been wondering if the translated version, could be as good as the original English version.
So, here’s my honest to God review, of J.K. Rowling magnificent book, in Bahasa Melayu.
Harry Potter Dengan Azimat Maut (Review)
The book at times feels like being translated using Google Translate. The translator seems to be trying to much to adhere to the original context, which could diminish the proses. Thus, making some of the text was quite hard to read and make sense of, maybe I didn’t read any other Bahasa Melayu fictions. Although, I love the work of an Indonesian Novelist, Habiburrahman El Shirazy.
Nonetheless, for Malays, who love Harry Potter as much as I do, and want to read the book. The Bahasa Melayu version, to me is good enough, could have been better, but it is adequate.
Kudos to the translator for a job well done.
So, I rated the book at 5.00/5.00 on Goodreads for sheer magnificent of J.K. Rowling wonderous original text, and 4.00/5.00 for the good translation.
But I won’t buy another Bahasa Melayu version of Harry Potter’s series, I rather stick with the English version, or maybe the illustrated ones.
