Be gentle

Jarir RA reported from Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ): “He who is deprived of tenderly feelings (gentleness) is in fact deprived of good.”

Narrated in Sahih Muslim, No. 2592
Grade: Sahih (authentic)

  1. Gentleness is a praiseworthy quality.
  2. A person who is far from gentleness, is far from goodness.
  3. Being a person of gentleness and compassion will garner a person all kinds of goodness, such as grace and faith, good health, good fortune, and protection from calamity.
  4. Allah consistently reminds us to behave with gentleness and not harshness. Allah says:

It is by Allah’s mercy that you are gentle to them; and had you been harsh and hardhearted, surely they would have scattered from around you. So excuse them, and plead for forgiveness for them, and consult them in the affairs, and once you are resolved, put your trust in Allah. Indeed Allah loves those who trust in Him. (Chapter Ali Imran, verse 159)

Do not let ourselves be shunned from all goodness by not having a gentle and compassionate character.
