Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported that Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said: Visit the sick and escort the dead, for these can remind you of the Hereafter.

Narrated by Imam Ahmad
Grade: sahih (authentic)

  1. It is the responsibility of a Muslim to visit another Muslim during sickness as a gesture of concern and brotherhood.
  2. In the spirit of community, a Muslim should take it upon himself to escort the dead during burial rites.
  3. By visiting the sick and escorting the dead, a Muslim reminds himself of the certainty of death and the Hereafter.

The remembrance of death and the Hereafter will encourage us to perform more righteous deeds and to leave bad ones.
