Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Enjoining all that is good is a Sadaqa.”

Narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari, hadith 6021
Grade: sahih (authentic)
Translation adapted from sunnah.com

Lessons:

  1. Good deeds, whether in the form of carrying out virtuous acts or prohibiting what has been forbidden, are recorded as charity.
  2. This includes both acts as small as being cheerful, giving greetings, removing hindrances on a path, spreading useful information and those more significant such as working for a living, building shelters, and performing prayers. They will all be rewarded.

Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity. (Narrated by Bukhari)

  1. Stopping oneself from engaging in prohibitions towards family, other Muslims, non-Muslims, and even animals, are considered good deeds and will bring reward in the hereafter.

Let’s try and do various charitable deeds according to our means and capability. May Allah reward us with the best of rewards.
