Supplication when Leaving One’s Home

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never went out of my house without raising his eye to the sky and saying: “O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee lest I stray or be led astray, or slip or made to slip, or cause injustice, or suffer injustice, or do wrong, or have wrong done to me.”

  • (HR Ibn Daud No: 5094) Status: Sahih
  • (Hadith translation taken fromhttp://sunnah.com/abudawud/43/322)

Lessons:

1.  Rasulullah (pbuh) is the best example to be followed in various aspects.

2.  This is another supplication taught by Rasulullah (pbuh) that can be read when one leaves home:

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from going astray or stumbling, from wronging others or being wronged, and from behaving or being treated in an ignorant manner.

Hopefully, we can practice reading this du’a.
